Marking the start of Gloucester History Festival, a two-week period celebrating the culture of our city, is the Mock Mayor ceremony. ‘What exactly is this ceremony?’ I hear you cry, well wonder no more!

In short, it’s a comical parade brimming full of larger-than-life Gloucester characters! It features traditional entertainers, music and a whole lot of fun. This year, we paraded around the city, beginning in Eastgate Street and ending up in Southgate Street, where our Mock Mayor-making ceremony took place.

It was truly magnificent, and for any readers who haven’t taken part before, watch this space for news of next year’s ceremony.
