I must say a huge ‘congratulations’ to Gloucester’s very own Dame Janet Trotter, who has been made a Freewoman of the city. The accolade was presented to her at Gloucester Cathedral and the fine lady herself couldn’t be more deserving of it.

Dame Janet is a huge supporter of local businesses, and among other achievements, has been chair of the Gloucestershire Hospitals Trust and served as founding Vice-Chancellor and Principal at Gloucestershire University.

Having been recognised for her services in the early nineties, she was first awarded an OBE in 1991, before receiving a DBE a decade later. Our very own Dame was awarded a CVO in this year’s New Year’s Honours and becoming a Freewoman of Gloucester City is simply the cherry on a well-deserved cake!
