January got off to a cracking start for me thanks to an invitation to attend the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party in aid of the London Taxi Drivers’ Fund for Underprivileged Children. This prestigious event was celebrating its 90th anniversary, and this year it was held in the famous Grosvenor House Hotel in London.

Of course, Grosvenor House (a JW Mariott hotel) is one of London’s most famous landmarks. Having opened its doors for the first time in 1929, this luxury hotel in Mayfair has hosted many a great event. For the fact finders among us, you may be interested to know that the Great Room at Grosvenor House was originally built as an ice rink. It’s been blessed by royalty too, as Queen Elizabeth II learnt to skate here in 1933!

I opened the party with my world-record breaking ‘Oyez, Oyez’ and 700 children poured in to enjoy an afternoon of entertainment. Throughout the event celebrities, including Joe Swash and Bonnie Langford, joined in with the fun. It really was a magnificent day, all in aid of such an important charity.
