I know I’ve mentioned it a lot lately, but Jubilee Market in Covent Gardens is one of my all-time favourite spots in London. This year marked the thirtieth anniversary of the market and, like an old friend, you just can’t let these milestones pass without a right ol’ cockney knees up!

Of course, I went along to celebrate the festivities and was greeted by a sea of entertainment, featuring stilt walkers, beefeaters and a three-generation strong assembly of the Pearly Kings and Queens. There was even a ukulele-playing Dad’s Army duo – what could be more splendid than that?

The weather was magnificent and, as the sun shone down on all the visitors, they enjoyed activities such as face painting, indulging in delicious-looking cupcakes and even queuing for a photograph with ‘The Queen’.

The finale was a sing song of the Dame Vera Lynn classic ‘We’ll Meet Again’, it was just the kind of party that London needed. Don’t worry if you didn’t get chance to celebrate with us though, for I’m told this is simply the start of the festivities. Keep your eyes peeled over on Jubilee Market’s website for more information on how they’ll be celebrating their big birthday.
