And now for something different. Stepping away from my usual stomping grounds of the City of London and Gloucestershire, I shall be heading down to Portsmouth later in the year for the Victorian Festival of Christmas.

Aside from the fact that I shall be dressed as my Victorian Policeman character, I’m largely excited about this event because I’ve managed to book digs at The Lady Hamilton, my favourite lodging house (possibly in the entire world!). I’m not ashamed to admit that my main affection for this particular guest house is down to the mouthwatering home-cooked dinners – some of the best grub I’ve ever put in my belly!

As it’s the festive season there’s no better excuse to indulge, and indulge I will. If you’re ever in the Portsmouth area and need a bed to kip in, or some food to cram in, then tap up The Lady Hamilton, here.

The Portsmouth Victorian Festival of Christmas runs from 30th November to 2nd December 2018, open from 10am to 6pm each day.

PS D’you realise, it’s only 284 days until Christmas!
