Love your heart on Valentine’s Day. This was the theme of a high profile campaign launched last week in Enfield Town, marking February as Heart Month. The Rock Up In Red campaign was organised in partnership with the British Heart Foundation and was designed to let residents know that it’s time to look after their hearts. The BHF is a great charity and I was proud to have been asked to take part in the event.

A 7,000 watt projection highlighting Enfield as a heart town was displayed on the Civic Centre and two large 8,000 watt search lights were visible in the sky for miles around.

Councillor Christine Hamilton, Enfield’s cabinet member for community well-being and public health, commented: ‘Heart disease is the UK’s single biggest killer taking the lives of one in six men and one in nine women – that’s up to 700 deaths a year in Enfield, an average of almost two a day. We shall be asking people to support the charity with donations and handing out leaflets with health tips and information.’
