Never one to miss out on a jolly fun event back at base, I donned my Town Crier’s uniform last month to lead the famous Gloucester Carnival procession. In its 81st year, this year was all about the animals…

Yes, we had everything from birds and bees to elephants and lions, all accompanied with a matching soundtrack. Out of the thirty floats that took part, we even had one decorated to look like Noah’s Ark, in keeping with our animal theme.

I was, of course, at the front of the procession! The route we took started at Westgate car park and finished at Gloucester Park, allowing the parade to be visible throughout the city in all its glory.

I should also mention the magnificent talent present at this year’s event, with crowds drawn to the plethora of live music and events on offer. Did you get any snaps of this year’s carnival? I’d love to see them, send them over to me at alanmyatt@blueyonder.co.uk
