I had the absolute pleasure of attending Joseph Clarke School, alongside all their magnificent teachers and pupils, to welcome none other than HRH Princess Michael of Kent.

The princess was officially opening the new building extension of the school, and as patron of the trust, I feel it was a royal engagement close to her heart. Joseph Clarke School caters for visually impaired children, using modern teaching techniques and methods and is a true gem in the world of present-day education.

Alongside officially opening the extension, Princess Michael popped round the classrooms to meet the children and find out what they like most about their school. It’s such a modest place, with 103 pupils attending, ranging from nursery age right up to sixth form teens. The princess first came to Joseph Clarke in 1988, though the trust itself was set up in 1918.
